    IMO:

    Browning HP
    CZ 75 SAO
    Colt Commander

    The CZ in particular sits low in the hand.

    The S&W M&P can be had with a safety. So a nice trigger job with the safety should yield a nice SA like pull.

    Maybe I should ask, why not just buy the Sigs?

    I'll echo what's been said previously;

    HK (multiple alternatives/calibers);

    Hi Power (9mm or .40 {out of print but still reasonably available used};

    1911 (numerous alternatives/calibers)

    Cee Zed (numerous alternatives/calibers)

    Best, Jon

    The first indication a bad guy should have that I'm dangerous is when his
    disembodied soul is looking down at his own corpse wondering what happened.

    Can't find any 9mm P220's commonly available in Australia. Plus I wouldn't mind expanding my inventory from just Sig's (which is all I own at the moment) to trying another brand to get familiar with.

    There is a little different muscle memory going between DA/SA and SAO classic Sigs, due to the arrangement of decocker/slide catch/safety levers on the side. Some go back and forth, but it's enough that it could interrupt automatic operation of the machine if you get trained into a groove with one and then go carry the other. Most pistols have the slide catch farther forward, so you can go relatively easily between a variety of brands. For instance, a third-gen S&W, USP and Beretta 92 are all reasonably close in operation and control layout, especially if you have them all configured decocker-only. The rearward position of the slide catch with the decocker in front of it on a DA/SA Sig is a different pattern of muscle memory. Works awesome, but consideration should be given to adopting it exclusively or not at all, IMO.
