Thread: *THE* Gen 5 Glock thread: First Impressions, Reviews and Thoughts

I did some searches on Gen 5 sights as I'm struggling a little to find the right front sight height. Using a plain serrated blade with the stock rear, the Ameriglo .200" is hitting a little low. Since this is what they ship with their Gen 5 sets, I was a little puzzled.

Looked all over the rear sight for a "-" or some other marking to indicate if it is 6.1mm, 6.5mm. Nothing.

    Oh, wait....

    I guess it's "6.1". Duh.

I run Gen 4 height sights on all my Gen 5 Glocks. I prefer slightly high to slightly low.

Email announcement of the new pistols this morning:

“SMYRNA, Ga. – Sep 24, 2018 GLOCK, Inc. expands the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols with the addition of two modular optic ready platforms. The GLOCK 17 Gen5 MOS and GLOCK 19 Gen5 MOS come optic ready right from the factory and enable users to mount their preferred reflex sights to their pistol in order to improve their target acquisition.

The G17 Gen5 MOS and G19 Gen5 MOS complete the evolution of perfection for the 9X19 family of Gen5 pistols

“The MOS platform offers a convenient way for users to mount reflex sights without costly alterations to an original GLOCK slide,” said GLOCK, Inc. VP Josh Dorsey. “The resulting combination of optical sighting and the unparalleled accuracy and reliability of the new generation of GLOCK pistols set a new standard for this class of pistol.”

These Gen5 models are precision-machined to provide a mounting system for all popular optic sights. With multiple adapter plates, you can quickly and easily mount electronic sights to the rear of the slide. The Gen5 MOS family of pistols also feature front serrations for easier and quicker manipulations. This includes the addition of front serrations on the G34 Gen5 MOS which was first introduced to the market in January, 2018.

The G17 Gen5 MOS and the G19 Gen5 MOS will be available for purchase starting October 5th, 2018 at participating dealers.”

Any Ameriglo I-Dot Pro users on the 19.5? What is the height of your front sight? Does it shoot poa/poi?
I have a stock set that shipped with a .220 front. It shot way low at 10yds. I called Ameriglo and they swapped me out for a .200 front. Seems better to me but I have yet to shoot off a rest again to really check for accuracy.

The new sight will raise your POI approximately 3" at 75'. Roughly 1" per .007 change on a G19.

I’ve been seeing a few broad hints from a certain member here that were posted elsewhere about what the 44 might be. This person has a very good track record of reading the tea leaves.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s similar to a Glock 43 but in .40 caliber.

    Just guessing though.

The firearms equivalent of a sympathy f**k for LE/gov stuck with .40.
