"Rockport Mayor Pro Tempore Patrick Rios said Friday, ahead of the massive hurricane's expected landfall, that residents should either evacuate or make sure their remains can be identified.
"We’re suggesting if people are going to stay here, mark their arm with a Sharpie pen with their name and Social Security number," Rios said at a morning press conference, as reported by ABC News.
"We hate to talk about things like that," he added. "It's not something we like to do, but it’s the reality, people don’t listen."
My wife just reminded me we stored our Airstream rear bed unit in a Public Storage near Katy Texas.
We've not heard from the facility but given the impact on the folks in the area, we are not worried about losing it.
Continue to say prayers and send good thoughts to the people in this storm. If the rain continues to fall after sundown, it is going to be a long night.

My brothers house in Matagorda is somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico about now.
It's not his primary residence so everything there is replaceable.
He has terrible luck, his mountain cabin was completely destroyed in 2012 during a wildfire.
"For a moment he felt good about this. A moment or two later he felt bad about feeling good about it. Then he felt good about feeling bad about feeling good about it and, satisfied, drove on into the night."

Been an interesting couple of shifts so far up here in the NE side of town, particularly due to somewhat poor comms from command to us volleys, but it's been mostly sorted out (though there's still people bitching and moaning, since many of them signed up with the expectation of manning their own stations rather than being congregated in a single location and farmed out to tasks as needed). Just glad we didn't get more tornado in the AO; having to shelter in place and ceasing operations today would have been a much more impactful event then it was yesterday when the call volume was fairly low.

Just hit 24" of rain since 7:00am Friday morning from my personal gauge. Local .gov gauges show less.
All local streets are flooded, so I'm locked in with what I have, for who knows how long.
Still have power and internet, for now.
Things are really gonna get spicy by Tuesday I think.
Stay safe all of y'all who have to work in this shit.
10.0 pm NOAA update now tracks the storm coming up east of houston vs. right over it before. Hopefully it will come back around even further east.
