    Jerry Lewis Passes at 91

From the New York Daily News:

Lewis, who died Sunday at age of 91, turned himself into an American entertainment institution, first as a maniacal slapstick comedian and then as the 45-year host of tear-jerking annual TV telethons that raised a staggering $2.6 billion for muscular dystrophy research.

His death was confirmed in a statement tweeted by a reporter for the Las Vegas Review Journal.
He was before my time, but I know the name. Holy cow, that's a lot of charity.

He and Dean Martin were part of a famous comedy act that broke up in 1956. Some here may have seen some of their movies on late night tv.

Once upon a time him and Deano were pretty dang popular here in the states, as well.

I remember seeing his movies when I was a kid, but I lost interest after I got to be about 12. He did raise a shitload of money for kids with MD, though...

The very first comedy I remember watching, and laughing uncontrollably, was "It's Only Money" at around 8 years old. Something about the electric lawnmowers...

RIP Jerry. You made lives better.
