My condolences to families, friends, and colleagues.

First time I ever heard of someone shooting from an "inverted vehicle" at LE trying to rescue said vehicle's occupants. The story behind that will be interesting.

Chief, thanks for what you did. You were the first chief to meet with the rank and file detectives and ask what resources we were lacking and how you could help us, at least during my time. You did what you could to help us, and then stayed out of our way and let us do it.

But what most impressed me was your willingness to admit you didn't know. You didn't try to bullshit your way through, you were humble and honest. You were truly one of the rare leaders who believed and practiced leading by serving. You had my respect.

RIP, brothers. Prayers out for the family and friends of the fallen. BBI, never hesitate to reach out if there's anything we poor schmucks in NYistan can do to help.
