Shoot me a PM with the particulars if that's the case and I'll send it to ya. It's not like I've had a chance to get attached yet...

I pocket carry an Izula on a Raven pocket contraption. The Candiru would be better if you want something smaller. Good quality and US made.

If you want something more Japanese looking, CRKT has veen importing some Lucas Burnley designs from China. Theyre good looking knives.

Boker has several knives also that may work for you.

I was going to mention the same idea. I've been experimenting carrying an Obake the last few months and I'm pretty impressed.

This is my one of my few remaining Japanese inspired knives. It was my very first master smith blade. Made for me by Wally Hayes up in Canada.

He sent a kydex neck sheath but it's just on the verge of being a bit too much for neck carry. That said, it's a fantastic piece.

If memory serves it was forged from O1 and mild steel.

I bought this as a little summer knife. I like it but it doesn't really do anything that the other knifes mentioned won't do

Maybe I am looking for a Japanese inspired knife just a bit shorter and wider than the CRKT. Almost all the suggestions I have which is a good sign I guess.

Or maybe I just need better sheaths for them.

A sheath, or lack of, can make or break a knife for defensive purposes.
    Think for yourself. Question authority.
