    38 HST chrono

Hope I am not breaking a rule here but the following came from the Smith and Wesson forum in their ammo section. Again not my testing.

    2" S&W M337:
    High 800 fps
    Low 799 fps
Yes, a total for five shots of 1 fps variance.

    3" Custom Colt Agent:
    High 859 fps
    Low 855 fps
    Extreme spread of 4 fps.

    4" S&W M67:
    High 889 fps
    Low 885 fps

    http://smith-wessonforum.com/ammo/51...ial-p-hst.html
    Extreme spread of 4 fps.

Extremely consistent! The bullet being seated against the powder charge likely helps.

Out of a 2" Smith & Wesson Model 64-2, I got the following:

    HI: 753.9
    LO: 811.3
    AV: 782.9
    ES: 57.42
    SD: 20.12

EDIT: This was a ten-shot string.

How was recoil as compared to, say, 135gr GDHP or other +P stuff?

    Velocity seems a tad lower.

What's the point, since normal 38 spl loads work just as well?

To make reloading slower and more difficult?

Those numbers in the OP...I'm calling BS on those. Ammunition doesn't work that way.

As far as penetration and expansion in 10% clear gel with 4LD, don't look for much expansion, but penetration is extremely consistent, whether fired from a 2" 64 or a 4" 686...

The numbers and everything will be in a piece at Breach Bang Clear soon-ish. That's a 16" block, though.
