Why I've Decided to Stick with the AR and Abandon the AK

The gas system vs piston is not the issue in a 7.62x39 AR. like the 6.5 Grendel, the tapered case of the 7.62x39 irequires a constant curve magazine for reliable feeding and is not comparable with the straight top portion of an AR mag.

If you want .30-.30 / 7.62x39 ballistics out of an AR platform .300 BO super loads will do so with much greater reliability.

I disagree based on what I've seen people report with the PSA KS47 and the Mutant, they start to choke up based on round count since last cleaning it seems which suggests to me the ammo is too dirty for DI

Pastaslinger, you should check out the PWS in X39. Another option if ballistics is what you want and are not afraid to pay for the privilege is 6.8. Plenty of piston guns in 6.8, just a few in X39.

I have also looked at the Galil but they seem to be imperfect but expensive too

Have Arsenal AKs, Colt ARs, and DSA FALs.

The Colts are more ergonomic to carry & use. The AKs and FALs offer better barrier penetration. The homestead is in open rural farm country.
