    Shameless gunbroker good luck brag

I often put in lowball bits on "want" guns on gunbroker, and I literally never, ever win them.

Today, thinking about how I prefer the old style extractor to the new long one, I put in a $450 bid on a no-reserve 226.

    Welp, won it.

I'll swap recoil spring and mags to be safe, and maybe sights eventually since the front on it looks wonky, but go me for accidentally buying a wish list gun cheap.

2007 makes me a bit curious if I'll encounter quality control gaffes, but for that price I'm ready to find out.

Edit: Ordered new recoil spring guide, new recoil spring (yellow), new trigger bar spring, and an 18-round Mec-Gar Optimum flush-fit magazines. Now $545-ish into the gun with shipping and everything. Should be good to go once I decide what to replace the sights with. If Ameriglo makes a CAP like the one on my Glocks that's an easy choice.

Still sticking with my Glocks for any carry or home defense work, but this is a cheap way to round out my P-series collection.

Hope it runs great for you! I'm a 226 fan.

I checked the link out. Almost no finish wear and the grip screws look great. The corrosion on the trigger looks like what happens to guns stored in the box.
Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for that dumb bastard.

haha. Congrats. Nice to know the long-shots can actually payoff sometimes.

I grabbed a trigger return spring since I know those can get fussy in P-series guns after a time, and I'll try to buff out those little corrosion spots. If I can't, I figure a trigger can't be too pricey.

At any rate, for 450 there's very little TLC I'm unwilling to give this beaut!

Nice score. If you want to splurge, try a Wolff 19# hammer spring and the SRT (short reset) kit. Makes a pretty sweet DA and an extremely short SA reset.

I have 06 P226s with U740 and U755 serial numbers, and they are great guns. I also have an 07 P229 that is a solid gun that was manufactured after yours (it was imported by "SIG SAUER" instead of "SiGARMS," but still has a German frame, machined guts, and is solid all around. I think you're in great shape--you have what I suspect is a pre-Cohen frame since it's marked "SIGARMS," what appears to be a machined takedown lever and non-MIM hammer, and based on manufacture date I suspect you will have a machined locking block and sear. You do have an MIM trigger, but that means pretty much nothing, as it's a virtually stress-free part. As others have pointed out, a very low round count judging by the wear inside the ejection port/the smileys on the barrel.

    Great find!

May have just done a small golfer-style fist pump. Thanks for the info.
