    .375 SOCOM

Does anyone have experience with the .375 SOCOM round ?

My understanding is it's a .458 SOCOM necked down to take .375 bullets and allowing greater range than .458 using a standard AR lower and a .458 SOCOM upper etc.

The owner at Keeper's Concealment just got one....... we're starting to work a plan for a side by side comparison in the field.
You can get much more of what you want with a kind word and a gun, than with a kind word alone.

Just for grins and SMDHs, do a search on .375 Reaper. Because of that CF, .375 SOCOM seems to be the way to go in that space. Very much a VHS - (Beta-plus-possibly-criminal-"business"-practices) situation, unfortunately.

Hmm. Wonder about applications and range. And sanity checking myself- what on earth do I want with building another non-standard AR?

Not that you need a good reason to buy something, but how do you envision using the .375 SOCOM? I have a Wilson .458 SOCOM, and plan to carry it some in Alaska this summer, for when I might otherwise have a 45-70 or 14 inch shotgun. Look forward to following this thread.

Do you know Bill Wilson? Last I checked he was overrun with pigs and trying to thin the numbers.

Just got mine set up put a Strike Eagle 1-6 on it I had planed to shoot it this weekend but the Hip kept me indoors... I have some of the 250 rg TTSX loads from SBR they should run 2150 out of the 18'' I cant wait to shoot it. a budy of mine go the same upper so we plan to work some loads up as well. Its an easy 200 yard gun and that's what I wanted. for Pigs and Deer or really most anything else. went 375 for the extra range over the .458

I think you are on the right track with the TTSX load. Bill Wilson and a grandkid or two, took a .458 Socom to Africa and harvested a dozen or 15 animals through a cow Cape buffalo, all with one shot of the TTSX load below. That is what I am using in my .458 for bear defense. Besides terminal performance, he says the TTSX feeds very well through an AR. The Hornady bullets are cheaper and decent practice loads, but harder on the AR to feed.
