Old thread, but relevant since GJM made the PPQ hot again.
A page or two back in this thread Pennzoil mentioned trashing mags when this started on his PPQ, only to have every mag start doing it before long. I haven't seen this with my PPQs, M! or M2, but I have very few rounds through my samples. I'm really curious to see if this is a trend because of a design issue with PPQ mags, like the M&P, or just an unfortunate coincidence.
No sign of magazine problems with OEM 15 rounders, and same with Taran extensions. This is through 2,000-3,000 rounds through three Q5 pistols. Now that my wife is shooting a Q5, rounds counts are increasing faster. I know Bill Wilson felt highly enough about the PPQ bodies, to base his new 9mm 1911 on them.

Only a single mag and only on a single loading. 800 rounds through gun. I had just prior dropped that particular mag baseplate down on the concrete, and am thinking/hoping/wondering if that may be the issue. Stupidly, I did not mark which one was the problem mag. I tried to choke all of them up with some Wolf Poly coated stuff immediately afterwords unsuccessfully. For now I will just keep shooting them and see if I get the malfunction again. This gun is generally doing a good job of impressing me.
Was it loaded when you dropped the mag?
I have experienced binding due to a slip in the stack when a loaded mag is dropped with various manufacturers.
I have 5 standard M2 mags and 2 factory extended M2 mags that have seen a total of about 5-7k 2-3 of that in classes.
No malfs to report beyond a couple light strikes on russkie primers.

My PPX mags were very prone to this unless one was very careful to slide the rounds fully to the rear as one was loading the mag.
