    COPS in USSR

Most have probably never seen this, I've only ever seen it aired once, saw it uploaded recently and it is an interesting piece of nostalgia.

Recorded sometime in 1988 or 1989 in the summer, not really sure which one, I don't see any dates.

It'll run on vodka once you ran out fuel.

But no true Russian would pour their vodka in the car when it could go in their mouth.

The vehicle posted above is a GAZ-21 Volga, looks like the third series version which would put it between 62-70 production and probably seen its height of popularity in the USSR between 75-early 80's.

At that time not only was owning a vehicle very difficult, outside of a large city, but keeping it running was also as difficult as parts had to be ordered through the official channels and sometimes a question may be raised as to why a particular part needed to go to a particular location.

So if you did, indeed, had a Volga and ran out of fuel, but had a bunch of vodka with you, then you probably would not actually use it for the vehicle, but to bribe the local police who would show up and ask questions.
