Thread: Cast/coated 147gr 9mm load data?

  1. #21
I had the same case gauge issue with those bullets and had to use a Lee Crimp Die to fully size it down. Much head ache getting it straighten out. I just gave up on the coat bullets and use precision delta fmj.

Case gages only check finished case dimemsions. Depending on the diameter of your bullet the clearance hole for the bullet may not allow oversized bullets to gage properly. My 9mm gage will allow nicely centered .357 bullets in but .358 is a no go. This is something to keep in mind with loading coated.

Tell them, you may have to call. I believe that they will make it right.

Yeah, I shot an email over to them yesterday evening and had a response/new shipment notification as of this morning.

Now just to figure out when/how to cart this 60+ pound beast of a package over to USPS for return shipping.

3.3 N320 averaged 926 fps out of my M&P 9L with Bayou Bullets. It is also my favorite 147 coated bullet load. My OAL is about 1.135.

N320 is my favorite powder, and to me has a noticeably smoother recoil impulse without making me wait on the gun to cycle. It's much cleaner and cooler as well. But no, I don't think it's worth 2x Titegroup.

    Cast/coated 147gr 9mm load data?

    147 gr SNS bullet
    4.0 gr WSF
    1.13 OAL

This is the only handload I've ever chrono'ed; if I remember it averaged around 930 fps; the 147 gr HST factory loading was around 980. This was out of a storm lake M&P 40-9 conversion barrel
