Thread: The gimp's reloading adventures

  1. #21
    • Reloading press used (list modifications if relevant): 1967 model RCBS Jr2
    • Caliber: .308
    • Bullet (Weight, Coating, Profile, Manufacturer): Hornady 195gr ELDM
    • Powder manufacturer, type and charge; volume, type (ball, stick, flake): Varget 43.0gr
    • Dies used: Redding
    • Primers used: CCI Large Rifle
    • Cartridge Overall Length (COAL): 2.88
    • Chronograph data (if possible): Next time
    • Goals intended with this load: See if it groups and shows pressure signs (did not)
    • Results - accuracy, smokiness, clean burning, flash, temperature, smell, brass deformation, etc.: Nothing to speak of other than decent accuracy
    • Problems encountered and fixes applied:
    • Anything of interest: Fired from stock Remington 700 except for Timney 2 stage trigger, Dead Sandman Ti suppressor, and KRG Bravo stock. I plan to go up .5 of a grain and see what happens along with getting chrono data.

    • Problems encountered and fixes applied:
    • Anything of interest: 3 shots on each dot at 100 yards. This is JV_'s load, I simply grabbed what works for him, I did no load development.

With this load and your rifle, you could consistently drill holes through grapefruit at 600 yards.
