Last American World War I veteran passes.

Frank Buckles, the last surviving American World War I veteran, passed away Sunday of natural causes at his home in Charles Town, WV. He was 110 years old. Mr. Buckles lied about his age to enlist at the age of 16 in 1917 and was stationed in France as an ambulance driver. During WWII he was taken prisoner as a civilian by the Janpanese and spent 3 years in a prison camp in the Phillipines until he was rescued in a raid. In recent years he has been a proponent of re-dedicating the WWI Memorial in Washington D.C. With Mr. Buckles passing, there are only 2 confirmed WWI veterans left, both British citizens. A major part of our history has just faded to memory. RIP sir, and thank you from a grateful nation.
