    Practice Ammo for HST 147gr

For those who use the 147gr HST, what is your practice round? I know that the AE 147 supposed to replicate it, but are there any other alternatives? I'm finding Speer Lawman 147gr for less $ than the AE at the moment, and would love to hear if it shoots similar in terms of POA/POI and recoil? Thank you.

Your best bet is to pick up various flavors and shoot them to see.

My personal experience was, it was more important to find ammo that was as identical in terms of POA/POI than it was in terms of precise recoil impulse.
You should also consider that not every 147gr practice ammo is going to shoot as well as HST, through the same gun. My Beretta 92G taught me that.

I just budget for and shoot 147 grain HST on a regular basis.

American Eagle or Lawman 147 work well for me. Whichever is cheaper or in stock is the deciding factor as both have same POI for me.

    Speer Lawman 147 TMJ, 53620
    Federal AE 147 FMJ, AE9FP

Of the two, the Speer is the better pairing for the standard pressure 147 HST. The AE is a softer shooter.

Speer Lawman 147gr TMJ is a pretty close match.

The Lawman 147 also makes nice, viable holes in the paper.

I always use AE9FP. Shoots just like 147gr HST (for me) and is readily available at good prices. They are both loaded to around 1000 fps I believe.

I shoot the AE147 in USPSA, chronographed at 970 out of my G34 in 2 different matches last year. I won high Minor power factor per the chrono RO.

As noted, both Speer Lawman 147 TMJ (53620) and Federal AE 147 FMJ (AE9FP) work well.
