You may not have time to manipulate the throw lever/power ring. It also acts as a back-up sight (not seeing any BUIS on that gun).

Interesting. The Elcan does come with small BUIS on top of the optic, but they're pretty minimal. (That looks like a 1-4 Elcan.)

The ELCANs we were issued with the Mk16 (SCAR-L) had Docters on top. We generally removed both, and just ran our EOTechs or Aimpoints. Even on 1x, the ELCAN had some issues with eye placement relative to the lens, so a MRDS was a nice to have thing.
