Hi p-f, may I humbly (or not so) present to you the 3x3x3 drill!
DISCLAIMER: I am not military or law enforcement, I have no certifications or medical education and I've never been in a self defense shooting.
Credit for inspiration goes to the entire forum - but more specifically to Daga for his articulate and thought-provoking posts in the "Human Targets" thread
I'm going to type out the rules here - but I really encourage you to watch the first half of my youtube video as it covers the motivations and "why?" side of it better - the second half is my demoing the drill.
(Video is processing - should be live in 5 minutes)
Mr. White I am stealing your DOTW formatting for this.
Designed by: SsevenN
Range: 3/7/10 yards
Target: Human Fist- Outline your closed fist with a sharpie in the anatomically correct location on the body - use aproportionate and correctly sized human silhouette target as the backer - You are encouraged to use more "life like" tagets to subdue the contrast with the "Fist" (Video explains better)
Start Position: Low Ready + Concealed/Duty rig
Rounds Fired: 18/54
Procedure:
String 1: Low ready, fire 3 shots @ 3 yards
String 2: Holstered, fire 3 shots @ 3 yards
String 3: Low ready, fire 3 shots @ 5 yards
String 4: Holstered, fire 3 shots @ 5 yards
String 5: Low ready, fire 3 shots @ 10 yards
String 6: Holstered, fire 3 shots @ 10 yards
Any shots not touching the fist - total disqualification of entire set.
Scoring is overall COMBINED time of a completed, non-DQ'd set.
This is run HOT, you may perform up to (3) sets a range session, please share your highest, non DQ'd score. (or all 3, whatever you want to do)
There are (3) scoring brackets for this drill - GREEN (beginner/intermediate) GRAY (advanced) and WHITE (master) (wink wink)
Please run this drill, post your results and include your average non-botched FAST scores - I will be using you guys as guinea pigs to balance the scoring brackets.
