    Blade-Tech

I have an older Eclipse holster from Blade-Tech which I love and was very impressed with for concealing a compact firearm being an OWB. I stoped by Cabela's to pick one up for a g19 and found the new ones are some injection molded polymer and they seemed to collapse fairly easy. Is there any opinion on this new style from them? Good or bad?

I was also getting ready to grab a holster from them for my g34 for IDPA/USPSA as I'm not happy with my Safariland 5198 that I picked up. Is Comp-Tac any different in the regards to build or material quality? I wasn't thrilled with Tek-Lok either. The mag pouch slid around on my 5 stitch belt fairly easily.

I'm new to the USPSA stuff so I'm wading through the holsters and am not sure if I just want to run a GLS or ALS as the straight open top is odd to me unless it's a Raven Concealment type of rig.

    Thanks

Blade-tech products were really nice when it was a small family business, molding actual Kydex. Comp-Tac is nothing to write home about, either, based upon a pre-owned sample I acquired through evil-bay; good enough to serve while one waits for something better, but then relegated to the "reserve" box. There is a reason such kydex benders as JMCK and Dark Star Gear are so highly-regarded here at P-F.

I know nothing about Safariland's competition rigs. I like my Safariland 6360 duty rigs, except that the rotating hood is an annoyance. The 6354 eliminates the rotating hood, but maintains the inboard thumb-activated retention system, so I bought one to use as a field/range holster.

I agree about JM and Darkstar which is why I have stuff from Tony at JM. This is more related to competition rigs. I may go that route from JM but I was looking for something fast and then I could learn more about what I actually want in a rig.

I too have had Safariland and liked them for duty. The ALS system served me well and is very fast. They make a holster series, the 5197/5198 (same holster) that is their competition holster for USPSA and IDPA. It's great for the money but has a cant and rides pretty high. It's also more difficult to re-holster as it's stiff. I may use it but I am definitely getting the Comp-Tac double clip mag pouches unless someone has a better idea. I bought the 773 pouches and I don't like them for IDPA as I'm not running a dedicated setup.

For competition, I run Red Hill tactical double layer holster with their mount. It's the heat in my opinion.

For a cheaper version you could get just the holster without the drop mount.

Doesn't Blade-Tech have (at least) two lines of product. They have their injection molded holsters (probably the ones available at the Big-Box stores) and their kydex holsters. I think the "Revolution" line is injection molded.

I wasn't thrilled with Tek-Lok either. The mag pouch slid around on my 5 stitch belt fairly easily.
It is probably designed to accommodate thicker leather belts.

I have a holster and mag pouch from Dale Fricke which are very nice. He offers the option of making them for thicker leather belts or for thin Wilderness belts. Mine are made for the Wilderness belt, and work great. The downside is it will probably be too tight if I ever try to use it with a leather belt. I have the Gideon Elite holster which would probably work for your needs.

The $25 Blade-Tech is really hard to argue with for a G34. For USPSA I'd toss the shell on a BSPS Boss Hanger and most would be pleased enough. Otherwise you can get lots of different shells for them. We're working on it soon but I doubt we'll have it for our season start (April-ish).

Blade tech shell for a G34 on a BSPS BOSS Hangar/DAA Belt rig is the tits for USPSA Production. Blade Tech shell on a Stingray attachment works well and is legal for IDPA. Using one rig for both sports is sub-optimal.

I use them to run for my tek-lok AR magazines. Cheap and easily replaceable if lost/broken.

For those who are fans of the old blade tech, check out Krounds. kydex from former blade tech people. I have one of their G34 holsters and have been pleased with it.

Another vote for the BT/ Boss combo. Get a gamer belt for USPSA and some CR Speed mag pouches and you're well on your way to looking good.
