    Glock 19 MOS now SOCOM Mk27?

    Has SOCOM now classified the GEN4 G19 MOS with threaded barrel as the Mk27?

    Found this recent video from Chris Bartocci referencing the Mk27 designation, though he appears to display a standard GEN4 G19 vice a MOS variant.

    MARKET SURVEY: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division located at the Naval Support Activity, Crane, IN is issuing this RFI/sources sought announcement as part of market research for Miniature Aiming Systems - Day Optic Sight (MAS-D) Handgun Reflex Sight (HRS) and accessories. The HRS is a low profile, wide field of view, passive sight for rapid day/night pistol engagements in confined spaces for Pistols employed by Special Operations Forces (SOF), including but not limited to the Glock 19 and any other current and future rifle, carbine, or pistol with a sight mount. This effort supports the Weapons Accessories (WPNAC) Program.


    This effort is underway to gauge potential interest, establish the current state of industry, and assist in specification refinement and validation. The Government is posting the preliminary draft Performance Specification for review to receive responses and questions from potential sources to further evaluate potential sources capabilities and ensure that adequate competition is achieved as a result of the subsequent solicitation.


    Potential sources are requested to provide information on a potential solution based on the ability to meet the preliminary draft documents (attached). If a potential solution meets some requirements but does not meet others, please highlight and address what can and cannot be reasonably met. For those requirements that cannot be met, please describe the reason for the shortfall in detail. It is further requested that estimated delivery timelines be provided. Sources are requested to provide information on thresholds and objectives that drive delivery timelines and cost. Sources are requested to provide estimated production lead times, to include number of systems that could be reasonably delivered per month.

    The Government highly encourages potential sources to provide a response to the attached documents. The Government intends to use the information provided to refine the Government requirements.


    All interested parties are encouraged to submit company and product literature, a white paper, and/or other pertinent information, preferably in the form of a "Quad Chart". This white paper should not exceed 3 pages per item, with an executive summary (short paragraph) on the effort, a technical description of the effort, a preliminary schedule, identification of risks, current Technology Readiness Level (TRL), a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) costs for budgetary estimate of includes Test, Tear-Down, and Evaluation (TT&E) Costs and Repair Costs test articles, production units, and production quantity breaks for the Government(s) consideration no later than 07 NOV 2016.


    Responses from Small and Small Disadvantaged Business firms are highly encouraged. Firms responding should indicate if they are a small business, a socially and economically disadvantaged business, 8(a) firms, historically black colleges or universities, and minority institutions.

    Odd. You’d figure they would want something specifically made for the ootic rather than a bunch of adapter plates.

    Optics and accessories progress. Look at how Optics and lasers for rifles have progressed since 1913 rails were introduced in the 1990's.

    I'm still trying to understand why the MHS optics plate is sized for the Leupold Deltapoint.

    Didn't the the Delta Point Pro win the SOCCOM contract to replace the insight MRDS ?

    I must have missed that; I think the Delta Point Pro is a fine gaming optic, but I'm surprised to see it in military use considering the really poor battery life.

    There are very mixed reports about the battery life. Some claim a few weeks others claim 6 months or more.
