But the issue isn't that the perp was shot when he was, it is that the officer would have been justified in shooting before the perp turned and pointed the gun at hm.

Great shot on the cops part... very impressive. This shows how fast this stuff can happen. I couldn't even see what happened until they put it in slow motion.

It is a good video which highlights the "NOW NOW NOW" requirement for how deadly force can manifest and the actions which are required to be on the offensive.

I recall when Dallas PD Officer John Pasco was killed back in the early 80's during a foot pursuit. The BG pointed a cheap .25 Auto OVER HIS SHOULDER on a dead run and fired a shot that hit Pasco in the forehead, killing him on the scene. There was never a turn around move on the part of the offender.
