Thread: Video Review Thread

Shot a ZSA match tonight with the Shadow 2. Overall it went pretty well! This gun is easy to shoot...it just begs to be shot fast! Here's a video from Stage 3. It was an 18 round course of fire. For those unfamiliar with ZSA, blank targets or just the 6x6 head get 1 shot to the head. Targets with a Red + on them get 3 shots to the body. Whites are no-shoots. This stage had 3 headshots and 15 body shots. I shoot in the 15 division (divisions are 6, 8, 15 & 24). Pretty sure I'll take the division win overall or at least come very close. Looking forward to shooting more matches with this blaster!

Edit: Shot this stage in 9.78. Second fastest of the night. Fastest was a guy shooting in the 24 division. He shot a 9.55 but he didn't have to reload.

My final reload rep of the day, I grabbed a camera. I was already warmed up, with around a 45 minute period of 1 second trying to get my draw and reloads below it. I ran a few 2 second pars trying to do both. I'm not hitting my magwell 100% of the time, and I'm not under 1 second cold. Is it just a matter of getting more repetition in?

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks, guys.

I apologize if I'm treating this "video review" thread more like a "video view" thread. Did a bit of "get off the X" improv stuff, 2 runs, here's the clean one.

So I did GSSF with some friends yesterday and we figured it was a good opportunity to get some video. Not sure what you can glean from these videos and/or angles, but please, pick me apart all you want. I need to get better.

And yes, I know, I need to lose some weight and get into shape. Working on that.

I know the angles aren't great on these, but any suggestions? How is my recoil management? From my first person perspective it's kinda trash.

How well does the front sight come back on target for you? General consensus is that's more important than how much muzzle flip there is. From the video, it looks like you may be having to lower your arms to "manually" push the front sight back down after recoil. Can't tell for sure from those angles, but one common cause for that is your whole body is getting pushed back just a little bit with each successive shot, so you lower your arms to compensate. This video may be helpful.

I do think you have an opportunity to pick up some time on target transitions by moving to the next target as soon as the second shot breaks. Ideally the front sight lifts off Target A and comes down on Target B...no need to get another sight picture on Target A before beginning the transition. Obviously I can't see your eyes in the video, but make sure they are snapping to the next target first, then you're bringing the gun to the spot (and I do mean *spot*) your eyes are locked on. Good dry fire drills from Mr_White here and here. Looks like you're doing a good job locking your upper body and keeping the movement below your waist.

Solid run, and huge improvement from last year, congrats on the win!

Thanks, I appreciate it! I have been working at it and I'm continuing to do so.
