They are competent enough. I wouldn't invite them to be on my team when we play shoot the bad guy, but most Americans don't make that cut either.
if able to disclose... your pick for most competent group you have worked with or trained?

I've spent too many months in Saudi teaching, and hope to never go back.

The only high light, which I'm pretty proud of, is that one group of guys my team trained in the mid 2000's, successfully killed a bunch of AQ who tried to storm them the next year. Unfortunately, a few were killed, and a few ran away, but the bulk of the guys we trained laid effective hate on AQ and saved a lot of American lives.

You can get much more of what you want with a kind word and a gun, than with a kind word alone.

I'd say Saudis are a cut above the Iraqis, whom I trained (or at least tried to train). Those folks are perhaps the stupidest, laziest, most ignorant and most perverse I've ever encountered. With a very few notable exceptions, they were nothing but cannon fodder.

Having tried to work with IPs in the neighborhood around your hotel and in other parts of that charming city, I cannot argue with you at all.

I haven't had the "pleasure" of training any Saudis, but I remember with special fondness walking around various FOBs and local villages at Shuras, watching the local Afghan forces carrying their AKs by hooking their fingers around the triggers and letting the rifles hang there. I mean, that's why the trigger is shaped like a hook, right?

That makes no sense whatsoever. What do they hook their boogers with?
