Frio county is pretty rural, SW of San Antonio. Hays county is huge, and has San Marcos, New Braunfels, Buda, and Kyle, as well as Southwest University. I'm guessing he got on the plane because the agencies he was working for put in a note into NCIC that showed him being on official business.

There is definitely more to this story than what is in this article.

LOL and here's more info ... http://www.heraldmailmedia.com/news/...aba10814a.html I guess you can bullshit your way into a flying while armed exception.

In my experience it happens all over, cities and rural places. Everybody has to start somewhere and everybody was young once. Look at the origin of the phrase "a job with no heavy lifting". I remembered having an unattended death once and the investigator from the coroners office was a young women fresh out of college. I wondered about that one but then just shrugged and went back on patrol. But what I really want to know is how can I get a job like that?

I told my 72 year old dad about this. His response was basically the same thing.

I love rural Texas, especially south and even more so out west. However if I worked there I would prefer to work for a county that contracted it's jail services with a private company just to avoid having to do jail transports!

I pulled over a guy who had lights in his mv and an MDT mounted in it. He claimed to work for DHS. Long story short he didn't and he had a warrant out for his arrest for impersonating a police officer. The story got strange when we found out he had contacts with numerous police departments who had "worked with him" as a federal agent on cases. He pulled the wool over many eyes for many years.

Like Dr. No and I mentioned, it's probably because his department was authorizing him to.

There's not much in the way to "catch it" if the department gives you creds and gets you an NLETS identifier. I'm inclined to believe he had both since he did it 21 separate times. It was on the department to do their job and ensure the integrity of who they were empowering.....they obviously didn't.
