I'm of the opinion that it wouldn't have mattered WHAT that gun was made of.
The car crash nerd in me has always wondered how much impact energy was needed to break that grip and was not transferred into the agents body, that's assuming he landed on top of the pistol. Might have acted a crumple zone. Guns are cheap to replace compared to fixing hip fractures.
