    I believe it was in Reed Knight's SAR interview where he talked about the suppressed revolvers. They werent .44s but rebarreled in a flatter shooting caliber, if I recall correctly. It's been a while since I read it.

    In the late 90s there were a few examples of captive piston type suppressed revolvers floating around in Europe. The examples were sterile and if I recall industry never did quite work out the origin. they were somewhat effective reportedly and differed from later Russian designs known to industry. Ammunition was a unique 7.65 variant. Supposedly turned up in the Balkans in (one or more) hits, depending on how the story was told.

    These stories predated widespread acknowledgment of the PSS. It is possible these were local service variants developed for similar capability before the Russian platform was later shared in the Warsaw Pact countries, but this would just be speculation.
