There has been a lot of discussion lately on optics that fit the 300-600 yard category, and I have some curiosities about the experience others have in this category.

I've been on quite a few varmint hunts going after prairie dogs and coyotes but each scenario has it's own set of mission priorities. Back then I ran a 6-20 or 4-12 optic with a standard duplex reticle. Shots were held with a little Kentucky windage or dialed. More recently I have been using scopes with a reticle that has more graduations, in either MIL or MOA, to hold rather than dial.

Today there are a ton of choices and the zoom ratios are getting insanely good.
