Too funny, I should have picked up on that. Guess I was too excited by the NYG making the playoffs this year.
I was living in SF when my Yankees got swept by the Reds in 1976. After waiting 12 long years for the Yanks to finally get back in the world series it was tough to take. The following year I was back in NY and got to watch them celebrate another world series victory.
I loved San Francisco. Best town in America for a straight man.

Speaking of Jimmy Hoffa...if you haven't read "I Heard You Paint Houses" it's an interesting read.

There's nothing civil about this war.
A security director who does not know how to apply rules. I have held that position at two major venues. He had options. The easiest would have been recognizing on-duty state police as providing security to the venue. At the other end of the spectrum you have his decision. Other options existed in between the margins.
To the first point, I've heard this but always thought it could be managed around. The teams might have to replace currently sworn security with minimum-wage guys, but the teams aren't going to move because of that. I'd be surprised if the after-tax cost to the teams would be very different. It might even be less.
Secondly, regarding cops who want to see a free game, shunning has proven to be pretty helpful with folks who won't get with the program. If total shunning is not possible in police work, then perhaps minimal interaction (shunning "light"?) could be substituted.
IMO, the rot is deeper. Police who volunteer to work for people who deplore them reduce the professionalism of their calling. "If you respect neither yourself nor your peers, then why should I (the guy you just pulled over) respect either you or they?".
Nothing good happens when interaction between sworn and unsworn begins with a dominance challenge.

Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Beware of my temper, and the dog that I've found...
I'm confused as why CPD would have to escort State Police....makes no sense to me, but I'm not from NC and unaffiliated with a professional sports organizations.
Because those State Police officers had thermo nuclear weapons with hair triggers in their holsters that could jump out and kill everyone all by themselves. It was imperative for the local police carrying the same thermo nuclear hair trigger weapons in their holsters to disarm the other ones for the safety of everyone. This is today's America........where logic and common sense are rare commodities that have been replaced with emotions, feelings, and safe spaces. Until stupid has consequences, nothing will change.
What should have happened is all those local guys working as their brothers from a State Police honor guard there to honor our flag and country were turned away......should have walked with them.

I'll admit that I'm GENERALLY a non-sports watching half-a-fag (according to my sportsy friends), so, unless I'm working a detail, the chances of me ever being at a sport event are about 0. BUT, hearing stuff like this tells me everything I need to know about the situation in Charlotte. So, it's OK for NON-LEO security to be armed, but not uniformed LEOs performing an official function? Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on.
Above and beyond that, I haven't allowed an NBA game (or ESPN at all) to be on the TV in my house ever since the BS they pulled last year at the ESPies.
I'm with Darryl on this one. Pull out, let them handle their shit themselves...
