.44 mag gel test: HSM 240 gr SJHP

The Model 69 is an S&W L-frame revolver like the Model 686 in .357 Mag and the Model 696 in .44 Special.
I wish there were more mid-power .44 Magnum factory offerings. However, they should be clearly marked as a reduced velocity load.
That HSM loading looks fine to me for whitetail deer.

Looking at some of your older videos, it would appear that this "weak sauce" .44 Mag load compares well to the 10mm Automatic with 200 gr XTP

The sectional density of the .44 is .177 and the sectional density of the 10mm is .178 so yeah, they should compare well. Obviously, the larger one can cut a bit wider path. Both should be decently effective on medium sized critters. "Weak sauce" is relative, of course.

That's interesting that it worked as well as it did given the velocity. Any idea who's bullet HSM is using in this ammo?
