The Infantryman’s Christmas List: How to Equip Our Men for Ground Combat (derp)

Some real gems in this article.

U.S. troops use the same lousy rifle I carried in Vietnam 50 years ago. It was crap then. It still is today. Russia’s newest rifle outranges ours by 40 percent, and the Russian operating system is far more reliable than ours.
The only thing missing is demanding that the 1911 be brought back.

Never having been a soldier, take this for what it's worth.

It is hard to believe that the guy who wrote that article was in the military.

Troops don't need the gadgets and goodies that moron is talking about. They need a Commander in Chief with the political will to let them fight, which we've been sorely lacking for the last eight years.

I got as far as the byline, saw who wrote it, and closed the tab.

I've been thinking about this. What do infantrymen really want for Christmas?
    • To go home
    • Better porn
    • Lighter gear
    • Freedom from a retired general officer who thinks he knows what I want because he used to run the War College
    • Mail
    • Comm gear that works right and is lighter
    • Better boots
    • Baby wipes
    • Clean socks
    • Booze
    • More porn
    • Decent chow
    • A good night's sleep while someone I trust stands watch
    • Seriously, more porn. I've used up what I have. And recycled it. It's dead to me now.
    • Gear that works like it's supposed to
    • More porn. Please?

    But that's just a guess.
