    RFI: Burris XTR II 1 - 8 X 24. Optic for Tikka T3X Compact Lite .308.

Gentlemen - I have a new Tikka T3X Compact Lite in .308 and am searching for the appropriate optic. An intriguing new option is the Burris XTR II 1 - 8 X 24 http://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/x...lescope-1-8x24. I hope to build a light, compact, accurate, fast, and versatile general purpose rifle for knocking around the Wyoming back country. Terrain varies from dense timber to desert. Anticipated ranges run from 10 - 500 yards. I have already purchased a 20 MOA rail from Mountain Tactical and a Rhodesian biothane sling from Andy's leather. Does anyone have personal experience with this optic? Do you have other recommendations? Thanks from the Big Empty. ELN

Those photos show some nice, sharp image through that scope.

CST - Thanks for the information and images. I'm also interested in the new Vortex PST Gen 2 1 - 6 X 24 http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...eticle/reticle. Any thoughts as to how the Burris and Vortex might compare?

They are not expected until Spring 2017, but I can tell you after Shot Show
Vortex's press release on them last Friday:

I'm impressed with the Burris for the money, I'm going to grab one for a .308 AR10 eventually.

My Burris 5-25x50 XTR II SCR says made in the Philippines. Warranty is lifetime.

I have had it for a couple months and am very happy with it, mounted on a 223AI so not a lot of recoil. The glass is very good, actually impressed me the first time I shot at 900 yards with it and realized I only had it on 12x.

Lots of nice features for the price point. I was going to get a Nightforce SHV, which I believe are made in Japan, but I wanted more than 15x in a FFP scope, and the Burris is $200 less.

Also look at the Leupold VXR Firedot. They have 2-7x and 3-9x versions.

I forgot, the VX6 2-12x is another good but expensive choice.
