$5 million to George Soros is like a few pennies in the coin drawer to us, I have little doubt he's the one pushing it.

There have got to be a lot of butthurt Clinton supporters donating who don't give a crap about Jill Stein, but want the recount because Trump. I heard one of them at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

How do you have a revolution with no guns. Just asking. They don't have guns... right? Besides I don't live in the likely areas of revolution.

    Highly disputed election.

    Trump wins.

Recount occurs - two results may happen:

1 - Recount confirms Trump won, everyone can FO.

2 - Recount shows that Trump did not win, Clinton won.

Which one of those two will the general public accept?

Let's think about this a little harder.

Jill Stein has no love for the Clintons, as evidenced by this very recent tweet:

    And many other like statements.

As a result, we may want to start thinking that the fundraising has another goal altogether.

Simple version: the Green party wants more money and more attention and is more or less "conning" money from the angry left as well as a possible future voter pool. Maybe it's Dr, Stein's idea, maybe it isn't. Under that scenario, the recount serves to increase mistrust of the "system" and call people of a certain brand of leftism to leave or change the Democrat party to their advantage. In other words, it's a power play within the left that won't succeed but marks the battle lines.

Simpler version: the green party wants what was outlined above, but, as per, the article I linked to, is getting itself "conned" by a bunch of lawyers and other "campaign specialists" who are going to cash in nicely.

Complicated version, aka put your tinfoil hats on:
it's about increasing the level of mistrust that American citizens (of whatever ideological outlook) have for the "system".
I think it's fair to say that one constant among Trump voters (even it wasn't their primary concern) was that "the system was rigged against them"; all the wikileaks publications certainly pushed that narrative. So we have the center, center right and right being quite mistrustful of the government (it's nothing new but it certainly got heightened in this last election). At the very worse (again, tinfoil hat warning), if the election is taken away from Trump, you have plenty of groups quite ready to pick up arms.
On the left side, the level of shock and hatred among a large minority of the people that voted for Clinton at Trump's victory indicates a powerful belief that this country is rotten to the core thus more mistrust.
So we have strong elements within both the right and the left that are easy to lead into an abandonment of our republic.
Now, if this complicated/tinfoil version is to any degree true, one must ask the usual question: cui bono? If I were to screw my tinfoil hat even harder down my skull, I'd point to all the speculation that groups like Wikileaks are not independent in the least, and that such an operation has a distinct "borscht" flavor.

However, I tend to follow this variation of Occam's razor: don't attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to stupidity.

Since it is late and I've finished a nice bottle of Sangiovese, you may attribute my above speculation to the fermented grape.

I heard Mike Wallace on Fox this morning indicate her votes would have made up the difference in Michigan. But I dunno if it would have flipped the country for Clinton; there were a lot of angry people out there.

On Clinton, maybe it's time to break out the Holy Water and silver stakes. Trump needs to put the Vampire! away for good.

I think very few Green Party voters would have actually voted for Clinton. They would have voted for another third party or not voted. As for why they are pushing this recount, it is a huge fund-raising opportunity. The Clinton fanatics are pouring money into and some of it is going to end up in GP coffers. Notice Stein isn't promising that all the money will be used on the recount.

This is how they are going to get stupid Dems to fund the 2020 GP candidate.

This sounds like a reasonable synopsis to me.

I'll have to check in on CNN or MSNBC to see the MSM reaction to Clinton joining in the call for a recount. I'm sure they will be shocked, shocked I say, that she! would not respect the election result.

Once he's in office he will have a lot more room to throw his weight around.
