I call this tree "bernie and ert"

I don't remember bucking logs on the deck being super fun but apparently I thought it was great

I drank AFTER chainsawing. Actually I'm super paranoid about chainsawing.

It was Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend (which featured basting but that's a whole other thing).

    Also breakfast

This is a thread where I built a boat I designed and which I very occasionally update with accounts of using it, which is really fun as long as I'm not driving over logs and blowing up the outboard.

I just discovered this thread. As I sit in my law office in the middle of a concrete and asphalt jungle, I am thinking that there is a much better way to live. The photos in this thread are great!

A few pics from a recent backpacking trip to Red River Gorge. One of the most memorable experiences of my life.

Nice images, sheepdog. Very similar terrain to our local environs. Our local mountains being a bit higher than those in KY.

Makes you appreciate just how good the simple pleasures of life are.

I work on the largest medical campus in the United States, which includes 2.something hospitals (will be 3 when they finally finish the VA...), several affiliated outpatient clinics, three large research buildings, and all of the health professions schools in the CU system (Nursing, PT/OT, PA, Dental, MPH, PharmD, MD, PhD, and MD-PhD (thats me!) ). The ER I train in is actually all the way across town, but this is where I spend most of my time now that I am doing my PhD.

A view from an outdoor table on my campus.

A view of downtown Denver from my desk in lab.

A view of Children's Hospital CO from the rear at sunrise

A view of my campus, looking away from the rear of the Children's Hospital.

For reference, here is an aerial shot of the entire campus with Denver in the background. Obviously not my photo... the campus has expanded since then.

and a campy video that I secretly like anyway.

Went for a woods walk with the Mrs. and our yellow lab yesterday.

About 5 miles in, we came upon an old homestead, including an old cellar hole and family plot. The graves dated between 1851 and 1865. Many children's graves also.

The headstones were in disrepair, some had toppled and broken.

And one more... this is from all the way across town, where I do my clinical training (not the hospital itself, just an associated building)

Where the magic happens (not my photos, obviously, nor would I take any)

Last day, fly tomorrow. We went to turn in our gear by way of South Beach, it wasn't too far out of the way, and we made it in time for sunrise:
