I was startled when I walked up on this guy a few minutes ago.
He let me get within 10 feet of him before his turning to look at me clued me in to his presence. (I need to work on my backyard SA )
He hung around for 1 picture, gave me a scoffing stare and flew off.
He was a pretty good size, too. Easily as tall as from my elbow to fingertips if you include the tail feathers.
Red-shouldered Hawk, maybe?
