Yesterday was a special event at the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, NH.
"Steam in the snow" was a photographic event, using one of their old steam engines, the 7470.

I was able to get miles ahead of the train [and the crowds] to a small spot in Glen, NH, behind the White Mountain Cider Company. There's a great old trestle behind the cider mill, and the place I waited for the 7470.
A most excellent place to dine and visit if you ever get up this way.

The sounds, smells and thunderous vibrations from this engineering marvel were beyond description.

    Enjoy.

    Behold...a scenic vista.

This is a view of the street outside of one of the gyms I go to. It's not great, but it's pretty standard for what the world around a steel plant town looks like when the steel plant closes down.

Playing around with an old Brownie Flash camera

Decided to run some 120 film through my grandparents' old bakelite Brownie Flash Film was Ilford FP4+ and processed by 120processing.com.
Pics are at a local dam used to create a lake for an upstream community. These are low rez scans, I haven't received my negatives back yet.

The wood structure is an art piece by a group that builds such things using found materials. Apparently they're active all over the Mid Atlantic. I know this because I bumped into one of the builders on my way out and we chatted for a while. Nice fella...
    Article about the group: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...0a3_story.html

This one is called "Dam Sight, Dam Site, Damn Sight". If you look through the portal, you're looking directly at the dam.

Firetrucks went by on the highway out back, which got the coyotes howling.

I grabbed the camera, aimed and shot. It wasn't on an optimal setting, so oh, well.

Freaking cool sunrise this morning. When it first started, the red pillar looked like the classic stiletto blade shape.
