Having a rare day without COVID-19-related panic to deal with at work, I was up early anyway. Mrs. Write and I got our kayaks out on the water around 7am for some birdwatching.
I got no worthwhile bird photographs despite having an abundance of riches - red-winged blackbirds and purple martens all over the place, a few grackles picking up breakfast or nesting material along the shore, a handful of goldfinches, the odd mallard, one briefly-glimpsed blue heron. However, I did manage to sneak up on this little guy lurking in a lagoon off the lake's main basin:

Yep that was on Kelley's Island, we have had a lot of rain this year so they were out in force. There were so many we could hear them buzzing in the air.

One of my shooting buddies shared this pic with me today. There is a barn near Huntsville, UT that has an American flag painted on it. He and his friend who is the photographer were trying to catch the Milky Way, that you can see above the barn, with long exposure times. It was pretty much pitch black until a car passed on the highway and momentarily lit up the barn.
