Is there a reason you are limited to those two choices?
For powered ear pro, I think the Howard Leight Impact Sport is the best bang for the buck on the market. Good reliability, good comfort, reasonable price.

Welcome to the forum, Alex.
This topic has been discussed many times and there are at least one or two recent topics in "Holsters, Accessories, and EDC Gear" section under the "Hardware" subforum that would point you in some good directions. I would recommend that you sift through there first as well as maybe perform a couple of searches. I would also venture a guess that this thread probably belongs in that section as well.
To answer your question, however, in general, you'll find more people recommend 3M over Caldwell. You'll probably find some people who recommend other things over 3M as well. Do some reading around here first. There's A LOT of good info here.
What is your budget and do you want electronic (amplifies conversation, non gunshot noise) or passive (regular protective earmuffs)?
I generally like Howard Leight for $50 and under. For more expensive ear protection I just recently purchased 3M Peltor Comtac IIIs and they are awesome.
Welcome Alex.
Are you shooting indoors or outdoors? Are you using them for long periods of time (>2 hours). Are you shooting rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver? What caliber?
Do you need to hear sounds or conversations around you (as in Instruction)? Do you normally wear a hat shooting?
Lastly, what is your budget?
Budget concerns aside, MSA Sordins (gel cups) are the best I've ever used.
