    RFI: speer #24446 55gr .223 GDSP

What velocity is actually appreciated in the real world from a 14.5 or 16.1" barrel? I ask, because I saw on another forum it's going cheap.

Since noone had any data, I created my own. It was a perfect day for this, slightly overcast. Chronograph was placed at 10 feet, and at 100 yards for the last 2 strings. 10 shots per string were fired in all cases. No error readings occurred.:

Suppressed (surefire 556-212) 16.1" DDM4 CHF CL Barrel:

    String 1 (cold gun): 3001.4fps (high 3022, low 2960)
    String 2 (unsuppressed): 2992.3fps (high 3015, low 2965)
String 3 (can back on the rifle): 3016.7 (high 3051, low 2982)
    String 4 3013.6 (high 3033, low 3001)

    100 yard chronograph placement:

    String 1 2536.5fps (high 2559, low 2513)
    String 2 2545.2fps (high 2565, low 2521)

    Stated BC: .222
    Calculated BC: .190

*Based on 100ft elevation, 69*F ambient, 80% humidity, and barometer 30.0.
