I find the rhythmic patterns of that whole region fascinating.
Actually I was tranported back to the time when on a short camel ride in Tunisia where the Sahara began and trying to avoid getting sea sick and getting sand everywhere but I like Beau Geste bettter.

Possibly the first appearance of classical "Spanish G" tuning in a rock song, courtesy of Keith Richards, with lots of behind-the-scenes coaching by the great Ry Cooder.
(I post this because I finally got a good example of the type of guitar Richards is playing here this week, after some 15 years of looking and lusting.
Also because it is a filthy, stinking example of sexual riff-driven rock. As long as this stuff endures, the Jihadists lose. Eff 'em.)
Also, compare Jagger's vocal delivery wit h that of Howlin' Wolf upthread; the open breathing after the words are delivered gives it a wanton, unhinged quality. Jagger was an ace student of the masters.
