    This gal is something special...

...and so was he. I saw him in the early 70's at my buddy's club, about a year before he passed.

#681 reminds me a bit of this song:

She wrote the song together with Ennio Morricone.

I heard Leyla play when she was briefly with the Carolina Chocolate Drops. She was good!

I was supposed to hear Rhiannon Giddens do Porgy and Bess last year but Covid killed it. I think it's rescheduled for something like October of 2022. She's a huge talent, but sometimes I get a little too much of the smell of the diva from her nowadays. Back before Dom left CCD, I liked the downhome kinda attitude.

Now I've had CCD in my head all afternoon. This version of this tune is great...I think Leyla's part is my favorite. When she switches towards the end from playing with her fingers to playing with the bow it's awesome. (Starting about 2:45)

This is right about the time I got to see them play live--this lineup, and these songs. They were really great. Thanks for the reminder! It's been a long time since I listened to them.

This showed up in one of my Spotify feeds today. A Mongolian take on Metallica (or as someone said in the comments Mongollica). Hopefully I can check out more of their stuff tomorrow at work.

A pretty funky jazz-blues take on the Beatles' Rocky Raccoon, from the late greats Lena Horne and Gabor Szabo, 1969

I'm not sure this music can be classified in the "heavy metal" genre (maybe classic rock?) but that's the name of the song, album, and movie.
