    I would grind the locking tab off. This totally disables the lock and retains all factory parts.

    I don't have a lot of rounds through this this, but it seems to be pretty secure. The plug has been out for a number of years and I haven't heard of that happening.

    Hard for me to say which aesthetic I prefer though...

    I only own one revolver with a lock, so maybe I'll try a plug for it. My wife has a few (cough, cough) with the lock, and I don't see it being worth the time and money to change them all over.

    I looked on the S&W forum, but does anyone have good contact info for the plug maker?
