Saw a dude on the Tail of the Dragon with one of those.
Think for yourself. Question authority.
With the dry winter season, the high country is melting out as early as I can remember. It's super scary from a (lack of) moisture standpoint. But I managed to get out on an alpine ride Saturday on the 29+ hardtail.
Incidentally, the haze visible is from a couple wildfires already burning in the region.
Been a smokey summer here in Colorado, with multiple wildfires burning in the immediate vicinity. Concern about air quality was on everybody’s mind, but at a certain point, ya just have to get out.
On one particular evening, we got ashed on so hard, from a blow-up about 20 miles away, it was reminiscent of pedaling in snow flurries. Crazy…
Had some opportunities, more recently, to get up high in some clean air too. The old mining cabin is at 12,500'.
I did a 60k mixed-surface ride in VT yesterday. This was the view at the top of one of the climbs. It was a good day.

The explanation:
With the wintery weather of the high county visiting SW Colorado the last few weeks, the desert riding season has been in full effect. Last weekend, Outerbike (a demo/promo bike industry event) was in Moab and I got to spend the weekend riding a bunch of the latest and greatest new releases.
This past weekend, a buddy and I rode "Magnificent 7", a 30 mile linkup of 7 of the areas finest and more technical trails. This is a shot he took overlooking Hwy 191 from the Gold Bar Rim Trail on the way across to the Portal Trail, the ride's last segment.
