The recent thread about the Federal 115gr +P+ reminded me of something I have wanted to do for some time now. Crony that load in various size pistols I have. I already had some Speer 115gr +P+ Gold Dots on hand so thought I would add that also. So went go over to SG ammo to grab some of the 9PBLE and noticed they had some Federal Hydra-Shok 124gr +P+ on hand, so two boxes of that also went in the cart. Unfortunately the Winchester 127gr Ranger-T was out of stock. Thinking how nice it would have been to try it out I found an alternate source and picked up two boxes of that also. That was going to be all until I saw that Midway had some Magtech 115gr +P+ on hand. What the hell might as well. So one more is added to the mix. Then a friend tells me he is going to order some stuff from Underwood. I was going to pass on the boutique ammo companies but what could a few more hurt. So I added their 115gr bonded and the 124gr Gold Dot.
Some things of interest. The Magtech was probably the brightest muzzle flash I have ever seen for a pistol in any caliber. The Federal Hydra-shok had the lowest velocity of all he +P+ loads in all the guns tested. It was even lower than the Speer 124gr +P Gold Dot that I included for comparison. I'm not sure why the velocity so low for a +P+ loading but I find it very odd.
I also included some Winchester 124gr ball standard pressure.
The pistols used where the Beretta 92A1, Sig P226, Glock 19, S&W M&P9c, and the Kahr MK9.
I'm going to start off with the Beretta and then add the rest as the week goes on. I’m not sure if I should add the rest to this thread or start a new thread for each pistol. If anyone has input on that let me know.
