Melonite/QPQ/Nitrocarburizing an old Carbon Steel Sig Slide?

I bought a new M11a1 to be my "on the boat" gun when out fishing. After a few ventures out on the water, I'm completely underwhelmed with the reliability; I'm getting the same issue as described here: https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....9mm-FTE-issues. Never with range ammo when nice and clean (currently shooting GECO 124gr & AE 124gr) but consistently with my carry ammo (HST 147gr +P)

I have a P228R franken gun that runs and runs, as well as a couple 'spare' P228 complete kits. I'm thinking about turning my M11-a1 into an actual M11 by swapping in one of the P228 kits, but I have concerns with rust due to the environment they'll be exposed to.

Has anyone done a ferritic nitrocarburizing to an old folded steel Sig slide & breech block? Can they handle it if I try?

I've never had it done, but I've handled some guns done in Ionbond that makes me think that's the direction I'm going the next time I need a black finish.

Here's vendor pretty close to you where you could examine their work and get your questions answered:

The path of least resistance will seldom get you where you need to be.
