    * distance: 7yd
    * Start position: ready
    * Best time for string 1: 1.66
    * # of hits within the time limit for string 2: 16
    * Best clean time for string 2: 1.42

    Raw data string 1:

    Total time: 1.65, 2.00, 1.66, 1.81, 1.96, 2.02, 1.99, 1.91, 1.79, 1.83 AVG: 1.87
    Time to first shot: 1.00 (-1), 1.28, .98, 1.16, 1.24 (-1), 1.26, 1.28, 1.23, 1.06, 1.29, AVG: 1.18
    Splits: .65, .72, .68, .65, .72, .76, .71, .68, .73, .54 AVG: .68

    Raw data string 2:
    Total time: 1.50, 1.64, 1.74, 1.42, 1.53, 1.63, 1.69, 1.49, 1.44, 1.53 AVG: 1.56
    Time to first shot: 1.02, 1.10 (-1), 1.16, .94, 1.01, 1.07, 1.10, .94, .95, 1.04 (-1) AVG: 1.03
    Splits: .48, .54 (-1), .58 (OT), .48, .52, .56, .59, .55, .49, .49 AVG: .53

Then just for kicks I set the PAR at 1.50 and got the following results
    Total time: 1.40, 1.33, 1.38, 1.31, 1.44, 1.43, 1.25, 1.31, 1.29, 1.35 AVG: 1.35
    Time to first shot: .96, .89, .96, .89, .95, 1.02, .83, .89, .83, .88 AVG: .91
    Splits: .44, .44, .42, .42, .49, .41, .42, .42, .46, .47 AVG: .44

Here is a pic of the final string

This drill was a great learning experience. I learned that I can really push the speed and still get good hits. My averages dropped and my hits remained consistent. I am also very pleased with my split times on the 3x5 with par set at 1.50, I have never shot that fast and accurately before. I saw what I needed (most of the time) and made the hits

    String 1 best time - 3.30
    String 2 best time - 3.13
    Total string 2 hits - 11

I shot this stone cold at the start of my range trip today and it really kicked my ass. I'm having some trouble picking up the front site early and getting that first shot off - I didn't record any of my splits (probably should have) but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary as I was looking at the timer after each string. I for sure felt like I was having visual patience/ focus issues all day and was having to slow way down since I wasn't getting a good consistent sight picture.

I'm a big fan of this drill (not necessarily of my performance) and am for sure going to start shooting this more often - it seems like a good way to work that balance between speed and accuracy and it is individualized for the shooter.

Had to take off part of a day at work just so I could get the DotW in

Running Glock Gen4, G34 Ameiglo Operator Pro sights and a Keepers Kydex AIWB holster, and a closed front cover garment ( tshirt and vest) Target at 7yds.

    First String
Best clean time 2.17 worst time 2.67 missed 4 times ( something hard about going slow, as I had the same thing happen on Tue)

Second String, (set par of 2.1)
Best clean 1.85 worst clean time, 2.20 had 4 times I got below 1.85 and had one miss each on them.

I worked on this some late Tue evening and had much faster times.... had 5 clean in a row from 1.71 to 1.63, now why the heck can't I do them when it counts.....( argh)

I just need to start my dry fire agin and have a better practice plan.

Just shot this drill this evening with cgcorrea at the NRA range.

    • G17; IWB holster (3:00)
    • Shot from concealment (untucked shirt)

String 1 Best Time: 3.18 (AVG: 3.34)/(18 hits)
String 2 Best Time: 2.98 (AVG 3.19)/(12 hits [only counting hits within par time])

I'm still having difficulty tracking the front sight consistently at speed and breaking the shot at the right moment, though I do feel like I have made some progress with this over the last couple weeks. Unfortunately draws from IWB at 3:00 still feel sloooow, molasses slow compared to AIWB. I moved away from AIWB after I switched back to Glock and I have definitely missed it...however sans gadget and no Shaggy's immediately available, I will likely be stuck with the 3:00 set up for a while.

I do think that two shots on the 3x5 from concealment is a good benchmark so I will be practicing this going forward and recording them in my newly created "Timed Drill Spreadsheet of Shame."

I shot this cold, with a new gun, and recovering from a 2AM arrival at IAD.

    Distance: 7Y
Position: Concealed, Untucked Polo, CCC Shaggy
    Best Time for #1: 1.95s
Hits for String #2: 12 (ugh)
Best Clean for String #2: 1.90s

After this drill, when I was more comfortable with the gun, I ran some drills at 1.8s with face/edge target (rather than a beep) and was getting a 75% hit rate.

Cold, S&W M&P 9mm out of a Praetor Defense holster from concealment under a Woolrich Elite vest.

    distance: 7 yards
    Start position: Holstered & concealed
Best time for string 1: 2.32
    # of hits within the time limit for string 2: 10*
Best clean time for string 2: 2.01

I actually screwed up. I was trying to shoot all of string 1 no faster than 2.5 because that's the time I know I can reliably get 2 hits in a 3x5 card. Then on one of the strings of string 1 I just saw my front sight really well on the follow up shot and did it in 2.32.

String 2 was a total mess - I started way too fast trying to push for times right around 2 seconds. I should have started trying to shoot for 2.25s and paired it down from there. I only counted hits on strings where I got both hits off in under the par time, which I assume is how I was supposed to do it.

    distance: 7 yards
Start position: Holstered (AIWB), concealed, untucked polo
Best time for string 1: 2.54
    # of hits within the time limit for string 2: 10
Best clean time for string 2: 2.44

I keep having a problem where I drive the tritium dot instead of the top of the sight to the target. This is causing a lot of high first shots and second shot misses. Lots more work for me to do...

    Good drill though.
