Good source to learn the AR-15 from?

What would be a good source of knowledge for learning to use an AR-15 pretty much from scratch? I am looking for as much as possible a turn-key solution, a single easily understood source, with a preference to a DVD as opposed to a book or something. (A DVD makes it easy to go over the material as we can just watch it during one of our movie nights.)

The target audience has thousands of rounds through AK's and 1911's, knows how to shoot, but has only recently bought her first AR and seems to still be a bit uncertain about how to run this gun properly and how everything works. I've taught what I can, but I'm equally new to the platform myself, and a lefty to boot, so not only is my own knowledge base somewhat limited, I don't always know how a right-handed person should do things. And it seems my skills as a teacher are somewhat limited, as well. (For example, until today she didn't know the dust cover opens automatically when you fire the gun. I'm pretty sure I've explained this to her, but apparently not very well. Hearing these things from another source might work better.)

I realize personal instruction would work better. Unfortunately, good classes are pretty rare around here, and those tend to get expensive, so that is unfortunately not an option for the immediate future.

I'm not familiar with any DVDs perhaps someone will come along with a suggestion. However I can highly recommend Mike Pannone's excellent handbook.

I don't know if Vickers has a video but he does have youtube. Having trained with him on both pistol and carbine, I'd say his carbine handling and manipulation instruction is about as clean, clear, and good as it gets.

Go to YouTube and search for Gunsite AR15 and Thunder Ranch Urban Rifle. You will find some videos there.

If you want a no-nonsense look at how to run a carbine, I would look at Panteao's "Make Ready with Pat Rogers Basic Carbine."

I have looked around for what you're describing, and I really haven't found a single source. You've just got to cobble things together. When it comes to learning how the thing works, as well as assembly and disassembly, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Always good to know how to disassemble your AR and (my favorite) proper nomenclature:

Honestly, that's like trying to learn boxing from a book. It can sure help, but 5 minutes with a pro boxer would be far better than reading for hours. There are many pro boxers, so to speak, available for this. An instructor like Pannone, Lamb, Vickers, etc. Would be the way to go if best outcome is desired. If simple intellectual knowledge is desired, I'd look at Brownells youtube. They have assembly videos for most everything.
