modify Safariland duty holster to protect threaded barrel?

I have a SIG P226 "Tactical" (standard SIG rail, threaded barrel) and recently picked up a Safariland SLS holster for a standard P226 (Botach had a bunch of Safariland holsters on sale for $29.99, and I figured for that cheap I could play around with things to make it work). The pistol fits in the holster with no issues (I figured I'd need to heat gun the bottom opening, but it was wide enough), but the extended barrel sticks out about a quarter of an inch from the bottom. Has anyone Bubba'd a Safariland holster to protect an extended barrel? Looks matter little, just looking for ideas.

I run a 5" P220 which has 0.6" barrel more than the factory standard. What I do is run the holster for the gun with the Surefire X300. I then remove the "plug" at the bottom and everything fits, barely. The weapon mounted lights makes the holster for the gun just long enough to work.
