    Troubleshooting Glock magazine release tension

So my old Gen 3 G19's magazine release is pretty mooshy. The mags do not seat with authority compared to my other Glocks and they seem to release easily.

So I replaced the magazine release spring, easy enough, but it doesn't really fix the problem. I ordered new slide locks too as they may be at fault but I am struggling to figure out what it would be if not.

I swapped out a different, largely unused mag release - didn't solve the problem. Isn't mag specific. Any thoughts?

Make sure the spring isn't bent. Make sure it's seated fully in the frame. Replace spring.

Mag release spring hole in the frame could be a little wallered out.

    Yup.
That's the trouble with making a strategically-supportive location in a gun out of a material like polymer instead of steel.
I have a bit of the same issue with my gen 2 G19s, which are now 27 years old.

I think this might be the issue. Magazine spring is fully seated (or as far as I can get it, anyway) and the new slide lock spring only improved things marginally.

Still, it looks like it holds the mags in, and it is better than before.
