BTW registration is $2250 bucks and a violation is up to 1 mill.
Make sure you read the part about automated reloading, or gunsmiths improving your rifles accuracy etc etc etc

Sounds to me like they are saying "occasionally" assembling an AR at home is OK, but if your habits fall outside of "occasional", you're violating ITAR?

You can change parts in your gun as long as it doesn't affect accuracy, so, if you use a drop in "match grade" barrel, you're violating ITAR?

If you use an automated reloading setup, you're violating ITAR?

This all sounds outrageous and unlikely, but vague enough that it seems like they could find a way to prosecute many gun owners that are law-abiding, but fall outside of being similar to the "average" gun owner.

    ITAR

I posted the attorney link so people could read an attorneys opinion and not mine. The law firm does a lot of firearm work. What seems to be missed is how does the Department of State have any control inside the US for anything not exported. But Yes as the attorney states a gunsmith threading a barrel technically violates the rules. Now are you willing to think Obama or Kerry or Clinton wont be happy to prosecute?
