Ha. You think like me. I do 14 in every mag...including the first one. But, I don't do 14+1...just 14.

I carry a steel Government model loaded with 10 147gr holler points. I figure 36 oz for the pistol, half an ounce for each cartridge and a couple ounces for the kydex holster. So I guess the total weight is somewhere around 43-44 ounces.

Great info, keep the data coming.

I think in order to keep this reasonbly consistent, I'd like to "count" just your pistol and holster; not reloads, knives, etc.

On the graphic, what I am going to try and do later is plot round count on the X axis, starting at the smallest (mine, I think, 7 rounds) and then going up.

On the Y axis, I will put an ID number of some kind at the weight of the pistol associated with the ID'd pistol.

That way, you can run along the X axis, and see where pistols congregate by weight. You can also see where your pistol weight stacks up. Plus, if you see a pistol to the right of yours (higher capacity) with the same or lower weight, you'll have an option to look at if you want to choose a higher capacity rig.

The "ID" number thing is so if you see a pistol you are interested in, you can also look up what brand/capacity is.

Not quite sure how to do this in my OpenOffice Calc Spreadsheet yet, but I'll work it out.

It seems as though out bathroom scale rounds up or down by the half pound. Beretta with 19 rounds, spare 20 round, and a 442 tallies up to five pounds.

P226 "SCT" .40 caliber, 13+1, in a Red Nichols leather Avenger style holster. = 44 ounces

That said, unless you're carrying in pant with a draw string instead of a belt, I'm not convinced weight matters much. It'll show lousy carry gear earlier, but with the right belt/holster combo I don't notice my "heavy" Sig. It's a damn sight lighter than a duty belt or a flak jacket and kevlar helmet.

    Pistol: G19 with 15+1 124gr +P Gold Dots.
    Holster: JMCK AIWB.

No idea what the weight is as I am in a hotel with no scale and about to go out. I think someone already reported the weight of that set up.

That said, don't get too wrapped on weight either. What anyone of us feel ok to carry depends on many more variables than weight, nearly all are individual dependent.

    Tamara,

You are a pretty dialed-in person and one of the more well-respected on the forum, so would you mind elaborating? I thought it was pretty universally agreed that carrying chambered is the only way to go.
